New experts for hydrogen conference

The final keynote speakers have been named and the program is out for the Australian Natural Hydrogen Conference, from October 29-31 in the Adelaide Hills.

Two Australian-based scientists will provide key insights into the exploration process for natural hydrogen – Dr Andrew Feitz, Director of Low Carbon Geoscience and Advice at the Government’s national geoscience agency, Geoscience Australia; and Dr Chris Cubitt, South Australia Department for Energy and Mining leader of the Basin Prospectivity team.

For those wanting to learn the paddock-to-plate story of potential natural hydrogen discovery and extraction, they are key additions to the program.

Announced earlier, international keynote speakers include Netherlands-based Max Brouwers (Chief Business Development Officer at Getech); Dr Mengli Zhang (Colorado School of Mines Industry Consortium); and Ian Munro (CEO of Helios Aragon).

Other Australian keynote speakers include Lionel Esteban (Principal Petrophysicist at CSIRO); Emaleena Baker (Strategy Advisor at Australian Gas Infrastructure Group); and Frank Glass (Chief Exploration Advisor at Gold Hydrogen).

Meanwhile, the initial program for the 3-day event has been released and can be found here. Attendees can secure their tickets and assess the best accommodation options here.

Dr Andrew Feitz

Director of Low Carbon Geoscience and Advice at Geoscience Australia, he is an environmental engineer with more than 10 years’ of research experience in geological storage of CO2. He has been a senior researcher in environmental treatment technologies at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany.

Andrew leads Geoscience Australia’s research programs and technical advice on hydrogen and geological storage of CO2. Dr Feitz led hydrogen research under the Australian Government’s Exploring for the Future program.

Dr Chris Cubitt

He has more than two decades’ of industry experience in reservoir and regional geology working basins worldwide. In 2021 he joined Geoscience Australia’s offshore Otway team as a Senior Basin Analyst and most recently started with South Australia’s Department for Energy and Mining (DEM) as a Team Leader of the Basin Prospectivity team.

Chris is an author of more than 20 publications and is a member PESA, IAS and the EAGE.
